2023-2024년 SDKPA 사이언스 클럽 리더를 모집합니다.
샌디에고 한인 학부모회에서는 2022-2023년도 사이언스 클럽 파일럿 그룹을 처음으로 운영하고 있으며 학부모님과 학생들의 적극적인 참여와 관심에 부합하고자 2023-2024년도에는 파일럿 그룹을 학년별로 확대, 모집하려고 합니다.
2023-2024년도 사이언스 클럽 리더 모집은 현재 8-11학년 대상이고 모집 지역은 Carmel Valley, 4S Ranch, Rancho Penasquito/Bernado, Scripps Ranch와 Chula Vista 입니다. 추후 발송될 사이언스 클럽 리더 지원 양식에 자기소개서를 작성하고 사이언스 클럽 담당팀과 개별면담을 통해 소그룹 리더 활동 여부가 결정되며 8월에 앞으로 담당하게 될 그룹이 결정됩니다.

현재 사이언스 클럽 리더로 활동중인 학생들 중 2023-24년도 리더 활동을 계속 하기를 원하는 경우에도 오늘 발송된 사이언스 클럽 리더 모집 양식을 신청일에 맞춰 접수해야 하며 추후 개별 면담 또한 갖게 됩니다.

1.사이언스 클럽이란?
사이언스 클럽은 과학에 관심있는 고등학생 리더와 초등학생 및 중학생 아이들이 2023년 9월부터 2024년 5월까지 매월 소그룹으로 모여서 다양하고 재미있는 과학 주제와 교구를 가지고 토론하고 활동에 참여하면서 함께 성장해가는 대면 그룹 활동입니다. 올해 파일럿 그룹은 3-8학년별 소그룹에서 아이들이 함께 모여 해당 학년의 레벨에 맞는 활동을 하게 됩니다.
2023-2024년도 사이언스 클럽 활동에 참여하는 리더와 회원은 80불 후원금을 접수해야 하며 후원금은 교구 구입, 리더 교육 장소 대여, 사이언스 페어 주최 등을 위해 사용될 예정입니다.
2. 리더 활동은 무엇인가요?
사이언스 클럽 그룹 리더로 선정된 고등학생들이 각 소그룹의 리더로 배치되며, 한 소그룹 당 4-5명의 초등학생이나 중학생 아이들과 함께 매월 1회 대면으로 소그룹 모임을 갖습니다. 소그룹 리더는 과학에 관련된 다양한 주제를 가지고 소그룹 회원과 함께 토론하고, 샌디에고 한인학부모회에서 선정한 교구를 이용해 다양한 과학 활동을 이끌어 나갑니다. 또한 소그룹 회원과 함께 관심있는 주제를 선정하고 관련 활동을 진행한 후 내용을 정리해서 2024년 5월 샌디에고 한인학부모회가 주최하게 될 사이언스 페어에 참가합니다. 과학에 관심있는 고등학생 아이들이 다양한 활동에 소그룹 리더로 활동하면서 리더십을 쌓을 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것입니다.
그룹 리더로 선정된 리더는 5월 7일 일요일에 실시되는 리더 오리엔테이션에 반드시 참석해야 합니다. 또한 물리,로보틱스, 컴퓨터, 환경, 약학, 생화학 등의 전공 지식을 가지고 있는 사이언스 클럽 담당팀과 대면으로 모여서 8월부터 매월 1회 리더 교육 시간을 갖게 됩니다. 사전 리더 교육을 통해 소그룹 리더들이 소그룹 활동 내용을 미리 공부하고, 또 각자 맡은 소그룹 활동 진행 과정에 대해 토론하면서 그룹 토론 방식을 훈련할 예정입니다.
리더 교육 및 소그룹 준비와 활동 시간은 한인학부모회를 통해 매월 최대 10시간까지 지역 사회 봉사시간으로 인정됩니다.
3. 누구나 신청이 가능한가요?
현재 Carmel Valley, 4S Ranch, Rancho Penasquito/Bernado, Scripps Ranch와 Chula Vista 5개 지역에 거주하는 8-11학년 학생으로, 영어로 읽고 쓰고 말하기가 자유로워야 하며, “학생의 보호자가 샌디에고 한인 학부모회(SDKPA) 회원” 이어야 합니다.
(✪ 현재 SDKPA 학부모회 회원이 아닌 경우에만 샌디에고 한인 학부모회(SDKPA) 회원가입 신청을 하시기 바랍니다.)
또한, 북클럽과 동일하게 거주지를 기준으로 신청 가능지역이 정해지므로, 아래 링크를 참고하셔서 거주지별 해당 신청 지역을 확인하신 후 신청해주시기 바랍니다.
현재 북클럽 리더를 신청하는 학생들은 사이언스 클럽 리더로 중복 신청이 가능합니다.

San Diego Korean Parents Association is looking for new group leaders for the 2023-2024 SDKPA Science Club.
It will be a great opportunity for high school students who are interested in science to build leadership skills while working as small group leaders in various activities.

* Leader recruitment will be held from Friday, March 17th to Monday, March 20th at 9PM.
Students in grades 8-11 who currently reside in the following regions, such as Carmel Valley, 4S ranch, Rancho Penasquito, Rancho Bernardo, Scripps Ranch and Chula Vista, are eligible to apply for SDKPA science club group leader positions and must submit the application form by the due date. The current science club leaders who are interested in continuing their participation as a leader must submit the application form again. No late submission will be accepted.
No prior experience is not required. They must be able to read, write and speak English freely and “student’s guardian must be a member of the SDKPA. If you are not currently a member of the SDKPA, please apply for membership in the Korean Parents Association of San Diego (SDKPA).
* What is the Science Club?
The SDKPA Science Club held in-person group activities with high school leaders and 3rd thru 8th grader students who are interested in science gather in small groups every month from September 2023 to May 2024 to discuss and participate in various fun science topics.
Selected high school students as leaders are placed as leaders of each small group. Small group meetings are held in-person once a month with 4-5 elementary or middle school students per group. The leaders will discuss various topics related to science with members and lead various science activities using the materials selected by the SDKPA.
All small groups will participate in the science fair hosted by the SDKPA in May 2024.
* What activities will the group leaders participate in?
Science Club Leader orientation will be held in person at 3pm on Sunday, May 7th. The details for this event will be provided to the new group leaders in April and all group leaders must attend it.
The SDKPA science club group leaders will get in-person leader training once a month from August 2023. SDKPA Science Club team members with major knowledge in physics, engineering, computer science, environmental science, biochemistry, and health science will lead the training. Then, the leaders will study the contents of small group activities in advance and guide members during monthly group meetings.
Leaders will get community service hours up to 10 hours per month through the SDKPA.
Small group leaders will be determined through an individual interview via zoom with the science club team in March. And, leaders will be assigned to their small group to be in charge of in 2023-24 in August.
SDKPA looks forward to meeting a lot of high school students with interest and passion in science and leadership.
