The best kind of homework is homework specific to the book which will require the student to read the book carefully in order to do the homework.

  1. Have the kids prepare a summary of the book and write about their favorite part or a particular event or character

  2. Have the kids answer 5-8 questions about the book that the Leader has prepared

  3. Provide a list of vocabulary from the book and have the kids write the definition and use it in a sentence

  4. Have the kids draw a picture of their favorite part of the book and be prepared to explain details about it at the meeting

  5. Have the kids identify five adjectives that best describe one of the characters, then find examples of the character’s behavior in the text that fit the adjectives and write them out in 1~2 full sentences, notating the relevant pages.

  6. Have the kids write a paragraph of at least 5- 8 sentences that describes some struggles the protagonist endures. Have them explain how these struggles help the character grow.

  7. Have the kids research the author's biography and be prepared to bring 10 interesting facts about the author.
